Textile design

Camilla developed the process to produce these luxurious fabrics with a unique print. The 100% silk was imported from Asia and hand printed in the Camilla Olson California Textile Studio.

The custom print is a derivative process developed by the former textile designer to Alexander McQueen, Simon Ungless. Simon developed an iron imprinting process for leather, used by the McQueen House. As part of her MFA Thesis, Camilla worked closely with Simon to further develop the iron transfer imprinting process onto silk. This process artistically transfers precut markings from sheets of salvaged iron onto fabric. Camilla loved the idea of using various shapes of metal to imprint upon the fabric. It is a difficult process, but Camilla’s Studio spent years perfecting the method controlling the process. No two pieces are exactly alike and has a soft, stunning, and elegant effect when applied to silk. The process uses kitchen-table ingredients, and the result is non-toxic.
